If you say you cannot see my shadow

If you say you cannot see my shadow
Perhaps you’re not looking my way
It could be ‘cos you’re dreaming with your eyes wide shut
It could be because I’m standing in the shade
It could be because there’s no more light or the sun’s gone down
Or it could be because you’re looking straight at me
 
If you say you cannot hear me crying
It could be because there’s too much noise
It could be because you’re asleep or have the radio on
It could be because you’re playing with the boys
It could be because I’m holding back the tears
Or it could be because I’m not crying at all
 
If you say you cannot feel my heart beating
It can only be because you’re too far away
If you say my love is only fleeting
Let me show my passion each and every day
So please take me in your arms
I’m smitten by your charms
Close your eyes, hold your tears, I’m here to stay
